4 Downs: Woodward-Weatherford Preview

WOODWARD (1-1, 0-0) vs. WEATHERFORD (2-0, 0-0)

WHERE: Boomer Stadium

KICKOFF: 7pm, Pregame on Z92, 92.3 FM and z92online.com at 6:35pm

LAST SEASON: Weatherford 21, Woodward 12

1st Down: Who Will Be the Eagles QB?

-The Weatherford Eagles have alternated quarterbacks Braden Teasley and Jaxon Ratterree in their first two games.

The latest news points to Ratterree receiving a majority of the snaps against Woodward.

2nd Down: Looking in a Mirror

-Coach Craig Hixon sees a Weatherford offense almost identical to the Boomers.

Expect the Eagles to mix it up with the spread offense, some two tight and even the Wildcat might show up on the field.

3rd Down: #49, not #54

 – The programs will list him as #54, but Carsten Barnett will be wearing #49 for the second-straight week as he fills in for the injured Dylan Whitewater, who could be back soon.

4th Down: Linebackers

-With Whitewater out again this week, expect to see #37 D.W. Moffett and #13 Ashton Wilson rotate at the linebacker position. #25 Slaydn Covalt could see some snaps, but that will depend on how much he carries the ball on offense.

Moffett played well in his first start last week, and according to Coach Hixon, had a strong performance in the junior varsity game, breaking his helmet in the process. Moffett has been given the helmet as a “trophy”.

EXTRA POINT: #51 Tyler Hardy left the Elk City game last week due to complications from his asthma. He is cleared to play, but for health reasons, will only play on the offensive side of the ball tonight.

Expect some good rotation on the defensive line for Woodward with Hardy not going both ways.

EXTRA, EXTRA POINT: The Woodward student section will be decked out in red, white and blue with its “America” theme this week. You’ll see a lot of green from them next week for the district opener against 5A State Runner-Up Bishop McGuinness.
