Enid Public Schools currently is seeking applicants to serve as substitute teachers, and the district now will pay substitutes more for the work in the classroom.

Last week, the EPS Board of Education approved a pay increase for substitute teachers.

Pay for substitutes with an Oklahoma teaching certificate increased to $80 per day, up from $65. Pay for those without a teaching certificate increased to $70 per day, up from $58.

In a news release from the district, those certified teachers who work in the same assignment for a significant amount of time have the opportunity to earn even more.

The rate changes are effective for days worked on or after Sept. 1.

Online applications can be submitted by visiting enidpublicschools.org/applytoday.

Priority is given to those with either a teaching certificate or a bachelor’s degree; however, anyone interested is encouraged to apply. EPS covers the cost of background checks for substitutes, and a screening process is required.
