Woodward Basketball Teams Move into Semifinal of Prague Tournament

The Woodward basketball teams both picked up wins in their first games of the Prague Chamber Czech Holiday Classic Thursday night.

The No. 5 Woodward girls (4-0) dominated the Cleveland Lady Tigers 59-18. Senior McKenzie Young led the Boomers with 12 points.

Cleveland (1-6) was held pointless in the second half until the final minutes, as Woodward outscored the Lady Tigers 29-4 in the last 16 minutes.

The Woodward boys (1-3) picked up their first win of the season over Bridge Creek (2-4) 42-32.

Senior Jackson Shirkey and sophomore Coltyn Semmel each had 13 points.

The Woodward girls meet the Clinton Lady Reds (2-2) for the second time in two weeks at 4pm in the first semifinal in the girls bracket.

The Woodward boys face the Comanche Indians (3-1) at 8:30pm in the second semifinal to finish Friday’s action at 8:30pm.
